Trademark Counterfeiting, Product Piracy, and the Billion Dollar Threat to the U.S. Economy
Published in Hardcover by Quorum Books (September, 1999)
Author: Paul R. Paradise
Average review score:

a page-turner!
A one-of-a-kind book! I've never seen any other book on the shelves that discusses this topic. Certainly not as thoroughly as Mr. Paradise covers it. It's obvious he's done his homework. The research and time spent talking to the experts is also apparent.
I'm a librarian and I read a couple of hundred books a year so I don't waste any time on books I don't find interesting. I couldn't put this book down! Despite the catchy title this is a fun book to read. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in keeping abreast of current events of anyone who just wants to read a darned good book.

a stunner
the definitive guide to commercial counterfitting available on the market.

Paul really delivers the goods in this page turning expose'.

Traitor in White Laces
Published in Paperback by Midstar Publishing (06 June, 1996)
Author: J.T. Fitzgerald
Average review score:

I liked the descriptive writing
J.T. Fitzgerald Is a great author! I loved his first book too! This book was a bit more like a mystery/action book. I like to picture the story happening in my mind and with the way J.T.Fitzgerald writes that's easy because hes adds all the good detail! I'm looking forward to another CIA/Military war book he comes out with. If yu enjoy a nice action/mystery book this one is great!

Mesmerizing
For the generations that did not exist during the Vietnam era, this book weeds out the rumors and tells the true story of what this war was really like. I could not put it down, I read it in one night. I did not think that J.T. Fitzgerald could ever top his first book Operation Stagecoach Red but I was delightfully surprised! Traitor in White Laces is the perfect sequel and a thrilling ride!

Trixie Belden and the Mystery at Bob-White Cave
Published in Paperback by Golden Pr (July, 1977)
Author: Kathryn Kenny
Average review score:

Marvelous! - Classic Trixie
I have always loved the Trixie Belden series, but unfortunately they went out of print before I could get them all. I am 22 and an avid collector now. If anyone knows a good source for finding them, then let me know. The whole series is wonderful for young adults (guys and gals)and is exiciting as well as entertaining without going either the sex route or the violence/blood route.

This particular book happens to be one of my favorites. Trixie, Jim, Honey, Brian, and Mart journey to the Ozark mountains to stay with the Belden's Uncle Andrew (The Happy Valley Mystery). While there, they learn how to spelunk, catch a thief, and of course do something to help the less fortunate. 5 stars and a definite must-read for Bob-White fans.

great book
We had these books in the library at school. these are great books for getting children interested in mysteries

Tropics of Discourse: Essays in Cultural Criticism
Published in Paperback by Johns Hopkins Univ Pr (March, 1985)
Author: Hayden White
Average review score:

Copernican revolution indeed
This collection of essays, all of which originally appeared in the late 1960s and 70s, is essential reading for every would-be historian or even amateur history buff. White unpacks interpretation and meaning in history, arguing that literary or psychic tropes govern the discourse of history just as clearly as they are manifest in the other arts and sciences; and that history that lacks self-consciousness of the constitutive forces of its own discourse can rightly be criticized as inherently meaningless, if not merely a propaganda tool for the justification of the status quo.

Historians are artists, White argues: they represent their understanding of history in their writings, they do not reproduce the history itself; their creations should be understood as we understand modern art, and not encumbered with outdated assumptions about 'realism' as the validating quality by which they can be judged. White notes in "The Burden of History," the first essay, that we do not judge the works of an artist or a scientist by asking ourselves if we perceive the world in exactly the same way, but rather we look to see that their representations do not include any deliberate falsifications. We don't compare the works of John Constable and Paul Cezanne to see which of them painted landscapes 'better' -- instead we appreciate the particular vision of truth each artist demonstrated in his work. So with historians, whose true calling, White believes, is to free humanity from deterministic history by pointing out that the present is the result of human choices, and encouraging people to consider the power their choices might have in shaping the future.

Although it helps to have some familiarity with nineteenth century historiography, the works of Hegel, Marx, Nietzsche, Freud and Weber in order to understand White's arguments, this background reading isn't strictly necessary, and White's exposition of the arguments he uses as illustrations is educational for people who haven't had this kind of exposure.

Classic text
White's text is a classic in its field, considering the ways history has always been, above all, literature. This collection includes an early essay on Foucault and poststructuralism. Any serious historian must read this text.

angels
THERE ARE ANGELS AMONGST US. THIS BOOK BRINGS THAT TO REALITY.

IT MAKES YOU STOP AND THINK ABOUT WHAT YOUR LIFE IS LIKE AND WHAT YOU SHOULD DO TO CORRECT IT IN THESE LAST DAYS.

IT IS A GUIDE AS TO HOW WE SHOULD BE LIVING.

IT LEADS ONE INTO A DEEPER SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE.

IT MAKES ONE AWARE THAT THERE ARE ANGELS AMONGST US AND WHAT THEY ARE DOING IN OUR LIVES ALTHOUGH WE DO NOT SEE THEM.

THEY ARE HERE BESIDE US AND THEY ARE WORKING IN OUR LIVES IN UNSEEN WAYS.

THEY GUIDE US IN THE CHOICES WE MAKE EVERYDAY AND THEY PROTECT US FROM HARM AND EVIL.

THEY KEEP SATAN AT BAY AND HIS EVIL ANGELS FROM DOING US HARM.

This book brings God, Jesus and angels to life!
This is one of the best books I've read! Gave me such a picture of God and His love for me that my life will never be the same. The role the angels (God's angels and fallen angels) play in our lives cannot be understated. This was a beautiful portrayal of the unseen. Laura Montane Bailey

The Two Kings: Jesus Elvis
Published in Paperback by Bantam Doubleday Dell Pub (Trd Pap) (February, 1994)
Authors: Eric White, A. J. Jacobs, and White Jacobs
Average review score:

Brilliant Elvis-Jesus Deconstruction
Author AJ Jacobs nails genius Eric White illustrations of Elvis & Jesus to satirical crosses in order to rightfully outrage the millions of humorless freaks who brainlessly worship them. I read about the Elvis freaks complaining to book store managers. White's illustrations deserve framing, as a tribute to him and the writing that inspired it.

laugh out loud!
This irrevent comparison between Jesus and Elvis is hysterically funny! (Jesus was a Jew/Elvis played raquetball at the Jewish Community Center) The illustrations are great too. I can't believe it's out of print!

Ufo Politics at the White House
Published in Paperback by Invisible College Press, LLC (January, 2002)
Author: Larry W. Bryant
Average review score:

A new classic in the field of UFO literature
A book with one of the longest titles around, "UFO Politics at the White House: Citizens Rally 'round Jimmy Carter's Promise" has joined the ranks of the classics of UFO literature. Its three parts show the reader that its populist author and former Pentagon employee, Larry W. Bryant, has both philosophic and humorous sides to his personality. His choice of letters sent to ex-President Jimmy Carter proves it. The President's unfulfilled campaign promise to disclose all government data concerning UFOs generated correspondence from a wide spectrum of the public. Even the unintentionally humorous letters, which sometimes lacked good grammar and style, show you just how the public felt about the importance of the topic. All the author had to do was mix in a dollop of the letter-writers' naivete to come up with a fascinating recipe which could fill more than a few cups and saucers (not the flying kind). This 316-page soft-cover book features letters from critics, fanatics, children--they're all there for you to read. Its cover shows a large manilla envelope on a blue background. A photo of the White House is centered on this, with an excellent drawing of a domed disc drawn in, as if it was hovering over the White House lawn. Bryant's witty, sardonic comments at the beginning of each chapter are just one of the highlights of this book. You should delve into the book. It's a great way to combine your interest in politics and UFOs. The connection is there for you to see.I highly recommend this book. As a long-time ufologist-researcher, experiencer, and former industrial and UFO magazine journalist, this review comes from someone who knows the field.

Long-Awaited Book by a Well-Known UFO Activist
Jimmy Carter was the only president to admit to seeing a UFO and the only one to make a campaign promise to release the government's UFO findings to the public. As expected, once Carter became president, he received a flood of mail from the public asking him to make good on that promise. Author and UFO activist Larry W. Bryant has obtained some of this Carter UFO mail, selected the best of them, and in presenting them in this book, makes some astute comments along the way. Many of the letters are cursory, saying essentially "what are you going to do about your promise?" Others are cranky, but some are genuinely probing or informative. While the letters to Carter on UFOs tend to be repetitive, the Air Force generated replies are even more so, but Bryant thankfully spares us that torture for the most part, only citing their replies when it strays from the routine. In the end, Bryant's book shows that when it comes to UFOs, the White House played--and continues to play--politics.

Undercover White Trash

Synopisis
Here's the synopsis from www.amazon.com.uk - where the book is also cheaper...(though shipping, of course, would cost more. I tend to order from both the UK & USA sites, exploiting price differences; I also read reviews from both before purchasing, since they seem to have different reviews).

Strange that the US site doesn't have a description of the book's contents ...

A snobbish ad man has blown a huge advertising campaign for a chain of consumer warehouse stores. Punished by his boss, he is sent undercover to study the target consumer group: ... Politically incorrect and hilarious.

Undercover White [Garbage]
An uproariously funny book. I can picture the actors for each part when it becomes a movie someday. This book reaches the funny bones of both the "snobs" in the world and the "rednecks" too.

Well-written, well-researched and thoroughly enjoyable! I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys tongue-in-cheek humor and outright obvious stabs at others' lifestyles.

An Unspeakable Betrayal: Selected Writings of Luis Bunuel
Published in Paperback by University of California Press (April, 2002)
Authors: Luis Bunuel, Garrett White, and Jean Carriere
Average review score:

Sublime
The "return" of the master. Although not as good of a read, imho, as MY LAST SIGH, this is still required reading for Bunuel fans, and still retains all of the great artist's power, humor, and insight. In an era of big bucks and ready-made food, it stands out like a whale among minnows.

Finally, these writings are available
This is a wonderful and funny collection of surreal writings from one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. Many of the earlier, surreal writings by Bunuel, written when he was with the Surrealists in France, are imaginative and funny. There is also the complete collection of poetry originally titled An Andulsian Dog, which is surprisingly strong. The criticisms by Bunuel, along with the autobiographical material, offer insight to his aesthetic beliefs and his thinking. There are also snatches of the last screenplay on which he was working before he died in addition to the original screenplay for Andulsian Dog and a Hollywood treatment for an unrealized film GOYA. Overall, this is a big treasure for those who love Bunuel and who have been anxiously awaiting to read his hard to find pieces. It is a great companion to Bunuel's MY LAST SIGN.
